Eating Well

Leave me the stalks
of broccoli.
The Brussels sprouts.
The leftover
mushrooms, the unpeeled
garlic.
The whole carrot.
The butchers breast,
meat, chicken
and
I will make a sauce
with half a cup of cheap wine
and butter.

Olive oil – pressed, fake
or real –
Goya,
butter, art,
your sorrow, anxiety, salt,
pepper, sex, vodka,
homeschooling –
no ink in the printer.

I will make you a meal that
tastes like spaghetti straps
falling off the bone of
a pale shoulder.
